Every saw-cut control joint is a small gap in the slab. Leave it open, and each hard forklift wheel drops into it and strikes the far edge. With a full pallet on the forks, that impact chips the edge, then widens it into a spall, then turns the aisle into a rough ride that shakes loads and wears out wheels and bearings.
A properly installed polyurea joint filler closes the gap so the wheel rolls across instead of dropping in. The filler carries the load from one slab edge to the other, which is what keeps the edges intact. It also keeps out the debris, water, and spills that collect in open joints.
