The Boombah Sports Complex (located at 3450 E Lake Mary Blvd, Sanford, FL) was facing a dual-faceted challenge regarding both the exterior and interior conditions of its buildings. The exterior of the administration building, along with three concession stand buildings, was experiencing significant defacement due to iron fines.
The process began with a detailed assessment of the iron fines causing defacement on the exterior block substrates, identifying sources and potential solutions to prevent further damage. Simultaneously, an interior inspection analyzed the causes of the peeling floors, examining factors such as moisture levels, floor coating quality, and installation methods.
We developed a customized solution to address the challenges at the Boombah Sports Complex. For the exterior defacement caused by iron fines, the team applied two coats of paint after priming the surfaces and spot treating the iron spots with iron oxide to prevent further staining. Internally, they removed the old, peeling floor coating and upgraded to an anti-slip epoxy coating, enhancing both the safety and durability of the floors. This approach effectively restored the complex’s visual appeal and ensured a safer environment for all users.
The outcome at the Boombah Sports Complex was highly successful. The exterior of the administration building and the three concession stands now boast a clean, fresh appearance, free from the unsightly iron stains, thanks to the meticulous spot treatment and application of two coats of paint. Inside, the upgraded anti-slip epoxy flooring not only resolved the peeling issues but also significantly improved the safety and functionality of the floors. This comprehensive solution enhanced the overall aesthetic and operational quality of the complex, ensuring a welcoming and secure environment for visitors and staff alike.
